Peptan® Type I marine collagen

Peptan® is a branded collagen peptide. Perla uses the Type I marine grade, sourced from fish skin rather than from bovine hide, and hydrolysed — broken into short peptide chains of low molecular weight — before it reaches the bottle.

Hydrolysis is a manufacturing step, not an effect. It is done because intact collagen is a large protein and a large protein does not dissolve into 25 ml of liquid pleasantly. What arrives in the vial is the same protein, cut smaller.

The dose is the number worth knowing: 10,000 mg in a single daily measure, which is where most of the cost of the formula sits.
