Peptan® Type I marine collagenA branded Type I peptide, taken from fish skin rather than bovine hide and hydrolysed to a low molecular weight.
BiotinVitamin B7, and one of the three micronutrients grouped under the BioGlow Complex®. Water soluble, so the body holds no reserve of it.
ZincAn essential trace mineral, meaning the body cannot make it and has to take it in. The second of the three in the complex.
ManganeseThe third micronutrient in the complex, and the quietest thing in the formula.- Pycnogenol®A branded extract of French maritime pine bark, standardised to a fixed procyanidin content.
- MSM (methylsulfonylmethane)An organic sulphur compound, manufactured rather than extracted. The dose is the number worth knowing.
Nextida® GCA standardised extract of Garcinia cambogia. Standardised means every batch is made to a fixed specification rather than varying with the harvest.
Chromium picolinateChromium, a trace mineral, bound to picolinic acid. The pairing is the reason it is that form and not another.
Apple cider vinegarPressed apple juice fermented twice: once to alcohol, then to acetic acid. The oldest ingredient in the range.
Marine collagen peptidesCollagen is far too large a molecule to be absorbed whole. Hydrolysis cuts it into chains short enough to cross the gut wall intact.
Copper peptidesShort amino acid chains carrying a copper ion. Among the most studied peptides in cosmetic use, and among the most expensive.
CeramidesLipids the skin already makes. They sit between skin cells and hold the surface together, and their level falls with age and dry air.
BakuchiolDrawn from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia. Usually introduced as a plant alternative to retinol, though it is a different molecule.
EctoinMade by bacteria that live in salt lakes and hot springs, where they hold on to water. Produced for cosmetic use by fermentation.
Matrixyl® 3000A named, trademarked blend of two peptides, tested as that composition rather than as its parts.
Pearl extractLargely calcium carbonate with a small fraction of protein. Milled fine, it carries minerals and a soft light-scattering quality.
NiacinamideA form of vitamin B3, and one of the few cosmetic ingredients with a genuine consensus behind it. Well tolerated and stable.- Snow mushroomTremella fuciformis. The polysaccharide holds water at the surface; it is in both masks and named on the night one.
- Multi-molecular hyaluronic acidHyaluronic acid at more than one chain length, so it sits at more than one depth.
- Panthenol (provitamin B5)The alcohol form of vitamin B5. Skin converts it after it is applied — a humectant rather than an active.
- Plant-derived exosomesVesicles drawn from truffle: Tuber melanosporum and Tuber magnatum on the ingredient list.
- SqualaneThe saturated, stable form of squalene. It slows the rate at which water leaves rather than holding it.
